We all lead busy lives, so it’s not surprising that many people hesitate before adding a new step in their skincare routine. It was no different when serums with advanced formulations came to the fore about a decade ago. However, face serums have since become one of the most coveted beauty products in the bathroom cabinet. Lightweight and luxurious, face serums pack a moisture-filled punch, delivering active ingredients to the skin in high concentrations¹.

What does a serum do for your face?

Formulated for deep penetration, serums are a great way to target specific skin concerns, such as discoloration, hyperpigmentation, dullness and acne¹. They can also address the age-old concern of… yep, you guessed it! Ageing. In fact, one study showed that serums can significantly improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage in as few as four weeks².

With so many new serums emerging onto the market, it can be overwhelming to select one, which is why it’s important to look for key ingredients that are backed by science.

Skincare Actives

What are AHA Serums?

Alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs, are skincare superstars, particularly when it comes to anti-ageing. Research has shown numerous skin-rejuvenating benefits, including exfoliation, moisturisation, the reduction of the visible appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and skin firming. Regular use of AHAs also help to prep the skin, increasing the absorption of other skincare products – and better absorption means that your products are more effective when applied to the skin!

The highly concentrated Serum from Elucent’s scientifically formulated Anti Ageing range is a hard-working formulation, created to tackle wrinkle-prone areas of the skin. It contains 16% AHAs, so you know you’re giving your skin an intensive boost to help improve texture, firmness, and elasticity.

Skin Texture

How to reduce the appearance of textured skin?

In support of the AHAs in Elucent Anti Ageing Serum, our serum also contains Vitamin B3, (niacinamide) and Vitamin E combined to hydrate and improve skin texture and tone. Vitamin B3 helps the skin’s barrier by reducing water loss and retaining moisture. It can also protect skin cells from damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) rays, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles, while Vitamin E provides antioxidant benefits, making this a great antioxidant serum for face.

Elucent Anti Ageing Serum also contains Pro-Vitamin B5 to help keep the skin feeling soft and supple.

Skincare Routine

When to use a face serum?

Ideally serums should be used after cleansing and before moisturising for an added layer of nourishment. Whether they are applied day or night (or both!) will often depend on what skin concerns you are targeting and the type of serum being used¹. Complement your serum with Elucent Anti Ageing Gentle Cleanser and Anti Ageing Day Moisturiser. Like the serum, both contain AHAs and Vitamins B3 and E. The triple-action moisturiser also boasts SPF 30 sun protection to help protect the skin against sun damage such as premature ageing, a necessity in helping to minimise photodamage and ageing of the skin.

Elucent Anti Ageing Day Moisturiser: Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Wear protective clothing, hats and eyewear to further reduce risk. Frequent re-application is required.
